Chantal Moreau, D.D.N.

Director, Estate Planning

Chantal is a member of the BMO Wealth Management team as a Director, Estate Planning. Chantal assists high-net-worth clients in developing their customized estate plans. Chantal helps to ensure that the legal documents her clients put in place reflect their reality, their needs, and their objectives while maximizing their estate value and asset protection.

 

Chantal is a member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec. Prior to joining the BMO Private Wealth planning team, Chantal gained hands-on experience in the administration of estates, trusts, and protection regimes with BMO Trust Company.  Previously, Chantal worked as a notary in a private practice where she also settled estates and worked on non-contentious legal proceedings. This experience gave her a practical perspective on estate planning and equipped her to anticipate possible issues and propose effective solutions.

 

Chantal holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a Graduate Diploma in Notarial Law (D.D.N.) from Université de Sherbrooke. She is currently completing a specialization program in order to earn the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation.

Danny Guarnieri, CPA, CA

Director, Wealth Planning

Danny offers personalized wealth management advice to high-net-worth BMO clients. He identifies each client’s needs and objectives and determines their financial position in order to develop a comprehensive plan that simplifies complex matters such as financial, tax, estate and business succession planning. In addition, Danny draws on his extensive experience in a private practice to develop quality plans and educate clients on the risks and opportunities inherent in these plans.

 

Danny joined BMO Wealth Management in 2017. He began his career in 2006 with the international accounting firm Deloitte, where he gained significant experience auditing large public and private corporations. After completing a master’s degree in taxation in 2013, he joined Deloitte’s tax services where he specialized in tax planning and compliance for public and private corporations. In 2015, Danny joined the tax department of Richter LLP, where he developed his knowledge of tax planning and restructuring for private corporations and business owners.

Haithem Benzarti

Wealth Planning Analyst

Haithem’s passion for financial planning and helping others succeed is a constant source of motivation for him. When he isn’t working to optimize all aspects of life, he is reading or educating himself to improve his skills or learn new ones.

Haithem joined BMO in 2016 and has acquired many years of experience in various financial services roles since 2008. Prior to joining our team, Haithem worked as a financial planner in branch and most recently as a financial planning analyst serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, developing personalized financial plans covering retirement, estate and tax planning, wealth enhancement, risk management, education funding, and business planning.

James Costis, F.Pl., CFP, CIM, FCSI

Director, Wealth Planning

James works with individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs, and families to provide comprehensive financial planning solutions and advice.

 

James is a financial planner and holds the F.Pl. designation that applies in the province of Quebec as well as the RFP designation for financial planning in the rest of Canada. James graduated from Concordia University in Montréal with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a specialization in Accounting. He has completed the CGA program and is also a Chartered Investment Manager with the Canadian Securities Institute. James worked in corporate accounting in the tax department of a major trust company and bank for 9 years and in the financial planning department of a major insurance company and he has been providing holistic advice on integrated financial planning for over 15 years.

 

For 7 years, James served on the board of the Chartered Administrators Order of Quebec, Financial Planning sector, in various capacities, including as V.P. of Education and V.P. of Communications. James has also taught credit courses for the Chambre de la Sécurité financière.

Karine G. Précourt

Karine advises high net worth families, professionals and entrepreneurs on complex issues involving taxation and wealth planning. She is part of an integrated team of specialists who work in financial, tax and estate planning. With her knowledge of taxation and legal matters acquired in financial institutions and private practice, she offers customers leading expertise and valuable advice to assist them with their personal and corporate planning. Karine excels in the art of suggesting appropriate solutions to issues involving wealth management, tax and estate planning, philanthropy, and new wealth.

Karine has more than 13 years of experience in law and taxation. In the course of her career she has held various positions of increasing responsibility in tax and estate planning. Working for legal firms and an accounting firm, she has handled tax issues for entrepreneurs, businesses and wealthy families. She has also worked with investment firms, supporting financial services advisors, their clients, and the professionals who work with them. She has intervened in several tax planning cases involving individuals, estates, and companies.

She has published numerous articles on taxation and participated in several media initiatives. Karine is involved with several charitable institutions and the Fondation HEC Montréal with the goal of engaging graduates in the institution’s projects. She sits on committees of the APFF, an organization dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and the improvement of its members’ taxation skills.

Mathieu Lefebvre

Vice President, Business Advisory & Succession Planning

Building relationships with clients is paramount to becoming a trusted advisor. Mathieu’s goal is to develop rapport with clients through open communication, trust and exceptional service. Leaning on his diverse background and experience, Mathieu provides guidance to private business owners and families in the areas of business succession, transition, growth through acquisitions, sell-side M&A, and valuations for the purposes of wealth planning and exit planning.

Prior to joining BMO Wealth Management in 2018, Mathieu has over 10 years of experience with national and Big 4 accounting firms. Working within the M&A Transaction services Group, he advised private company owners across multiple industries, with business enterprise values ranging from $3 million to +$100 million on all aspects of the M&A transaction process, from the initial analysis of financial and operational performance to the closing of the transaction (i.e. divestitures, acquisitions, due diligence, projections/financial modeling, and business valuations). Other areas of experience include corporate restructuring and insolvency, financings, and corporate audits.

Mireille Perron

Mireille is a curious person who is always eager to learn. Thanks to this natural curiosity, she has acquired knowledge in areas related to her financial planning work that make her an accomplished advisor. As a marathon runner, she loves meeting challenges. With her results-oriented approach, she sees each of her clients as unique and strives to present them with a clear picture of their situation and how they can achieve their goals.

Mireille has worked in a variety of fields. She began her career in property and casualty insurance while pursuing academic studies in financial services. Before going into banking, she was an exchange trader, thus gaining an understanding of how the stock market works. After five years working as a financial planner, Mireille left the sector for the construction industry (administration, negotiations, accounting, appraisal), which gave her insight into the realities of entrepreneurs. She has returned to wealth management and now feels much better equipped to advise her clients.

Olivier Paquin

Director, Tax Planning

Olivier is part of the specialized planning team within BMO Wealth Management where he acts as a tax and estate planner. His main focus is to assist high net worth clients and their families in reaching their objectives by making complex tax issues understandable, managing risks and identifying opportunities.

Olivier was called to the Quebec Bar in 2012. After completing his master’s degree in taxation, he worked for a well-known law firm based in Montreal where he advised business owners and professionals on a multitude of corporate, personal, and trust taxation issues. He also provided tax planning assistance on many corporate reorganizations, and business transfers.

Olivier joined BMO Wealth Management in 2016. He works in collaboration with professionals at BMO Private Wealth.

Raphaelle Nadeau

Director, Wealth Planning

Raphaelle offers BMO’s high-net-worth clients personalized wealth planning advice.  After identifying each client’s needs and goals and analyzing their personal and financial situation, she develops an appropriate plan that highlights the implications of financial, tax and estate planning and of business succession. Raphaelle draws on the skills she has acquired in a financial institution and an accounting firm to design quality wealth plans that raise her clients’ awareness of potential risks and opportunities.

 

Raphaelle joined the BMO Wealth Management Team in August 2018. She began her career in 2010 as a personal financial advisor with another financial institution. This experience provided her with in-depth knowledge of the financial products offered by financial institutions and enabled her to develop her financial advisory skills with a diverse clientele.

 

After completing her master’s degree in taxation in 2013, Raphaelle joined the tax team of Deloitte Montréal, the internationally renowned professional services firm. Over the course of her career at Deloitte, Raphaelle gained a wide range of experience in tax planning, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and tax compliance for individuals and businesses.

Samir Zehlawi, F.Pl., BBA

Samir has over 14 years of professional experience in financial planning and services as well as over 13 years in marketing and sales and has consistently provided high-quality advice and solutions to help clients achieve their goals.

 

Before joining BMO Financial Group, Samir worked for a major financial services institution as a manager in investments and specialty products. Prior to that he was a financial planning manager, a position in which he focused on providing financial planning support to over 20 branches in the Montréal area.

 

Samir graduated from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, prior to which he obtained another bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business. After university, he earned his Financial Planner designation from the Institut québécois de planification financière, completed the Canadian Securities Course, and completed several courses in the advanced graduate diploma (D.E.S.S.) taxation program.

After completing in-depth taxation courses with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Suzanne worked for a chartered accounting firm with business owners and professionals on complex corporate, personal, and fiduciary issues. She has also been involved in corporate restructuring and business transfers. Suzanne also worked for a major insurance company, where she was interested in tax planning and wealth management and developed custom solutions for wealthy business owners and families.

 

She advises high-net-worth clients and their families achieve their goals by explaining complex tax concepts and helping them manage risks and identify opportunities.

Linda joined BMO Wealth Management in 2010, following 10 years of leading a global tax team at a large consulting firm, where she specialized in individual tax considerations with regards to employees relocating permanently or temporarily from/to U.S. and Canada. Previously, she was a Tax Manager in the Small Business and International Assignment Services groups at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a large international accounting firm.
