As a Private Wealth Professional at BMO Private Investment Counsel Inc., I offer professional investment management expertise and advice to help individuals and their families enjoy and simplify their wealth. I spend time getting an in-depth understanding about what a wealthy life means to every client – their priorities on family, work, lifestyle and money.  Then, with a passionate, diverse team of wealth management professionals, I create a customized, flexible investment plan that I adjust regularly to external conditions and personal transitions.

This approach saves people time and worry when making important decisions. They know their financial affairs are in order and remain on track to reach their goals throughout their lives – the ultimate benchmark of success. With 30 years of investment management experience, I joined BMO Private Wealth in 2007. I have an Honours BCom degree in Finance from McMaster University and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst professional designation as well as the Family Enterprise Advisor designation. 

Alex Shurben, CFA

Associate Investment Counsellor

Alex Shurben works alongside Richard Mason as the Associate Investment Counsellor providing wealth and investment management expertise. He joined the Private Bank in 2015 working directly with Ultra High Net Worth families. Prior to this, Alex worked at BMO InvestorLine in various capacities including leading a team of investment professionals.

Alex is a CFA charterholder and has an Honours Bachelor Administrative Studies (Honours) degree in Finance from York University. He has over 13 years of experience within Financial Services, primarily working with affluent Canadian families to help manage large, complex client portfolios.

Ananya Madhok, CFA

Portfolio Associate

Ananya joined BMO Private Wealth in April 2021 and prior to that she worked in BMO Capital Markets for 4 years.

She works on Richard Mason's Ultra High Net Worth team to service clients with their investment and wealth management needs, working alongside Richard and Alex.

Ananya graduated from McGill University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance & Economics and has recently passed the CFA Level III Examination.

Jaye Peart

Portfolio Assistant

Jaye Peart rejoined BMO Private Investment Council in January 2023 and is a key member of Richard Mason’s Ultra High Net Worth Team. With her extensive experience previously as an Executive Assistant, she provides and implements organization and accountability within the team. Jaye provides administrative support for client’s investment and wealth planning needs and continuously creates meaningful relationships and diverse connections with those around her.

Jaye holds a Diploma from Sheridan College in Advertising and has 25 years of experience, 14 of those working for financial institutions. Previously, Jaye held the role of Executive Assistant at TD as well as at BMO Harris Private Banking, where she worked with Richard as his EA for 5 years.

Elizabeth Creates, LL.B

Director, Estate Planning

Elizabeth provides estate planning guidance to high and ultra high net worth individuals, families and business owners in the context of their personal wealth and business succession planning.  Her background as an estates lawyer and over 20 years of experience in the wealth management industry allow Elizabeth to facilitate wealth transfer decision-making for clients and assist them with action planning regarding their legacy goals (financial and non-financial).  Her modern approach focuses on the well-being and personal empowerment of clients by bringing them peace of mind and encouraging the pursuit of personal fulfillment.

She works collaboratively with internal and external advisors in order to ensure that all aspects of a client’s wealth plan support their estate planning, succession and legacy goals. She has LL.B. and B.Comm. degrees from McGill University and is a member of both the Law Society of Ontario and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Andy Guidi

Andy Guidi, CPA, CA

Director, Tax Planning

Andy is a dedicated professional helping people preserve and grow their wealth. With an expertise in Canadian income tax, Andy assists clients on business structures, succession and estate planning, owner- manager remuneration, corporate reorganizations, the appropriate use of trusts and holding companies, asset divestitures, business split-ups and a variety of other tax planning strategies.

Drawing on public practice experience, he offers a depth of practical insight, as well as the unique ability to translate complex tax concepts into efficient strategies clients can easily comprehend.

Andy joined BMO Wealth Management in 2014, after filling progressively senior management roles in the domestic tax practice of Grant Thornton LLP, where he developed and implemented tax planning strategies for business owners and high net worth individuals.

Michael Bach

​Michael has over 10 years’ experience helping High Net Worth families across Canada plan for their futures, by understanding what is important to them and creating comprehensive Wealth Plans to guide them, with a focus on risk management, retirement planning, family trusts, complex corporate structures, and estate planning needs. Previously, Michael worked in a boutique insurance advisory practice focused on estate planning and life insurance solutions for High Net Worth professionals.

Michael graduated from The University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. He has a Graduate Certificate in Professional Financial Services and holds a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®  designation, a Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS) designation, and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

John Kimpton

John Kimpton, CFP, TEP

Vice President, Estate & Insurance Advisor

John provides estate and insurance advice to high net worth clients though sophisticated, forward-thinking wealth management planning. John offers clients informed insight across the broad spectrum of wealth and estate planning issues, leveraging advanced market experience – more than 20 years of specialized estate, tax and insurance expertise – and a unique understanding of the financial and emotional complexities of family wealth.

He works collaboratively with his colleagues to simplify the complexities associated with wealth and offering affluent families and entrepreneurs a uniquely personalized experience. Together, they aim to help clients realize their goals, at all stages of life, through meaningful conversations and professional recommendations.

Danielle Robinson

Director, Philanthropic Advisory Services

As part of an integrated wealth planning team, Danielle is a national consultant who advises affluent Canadians on philanthropy and strategic granting linked to new or existing Donor Advised Funds and Charitable Foundations. Danielle draws on 25+ years of experience within Canada’s charitable sector at regional and national levels to assist individuals, families, and business owners build a successful and lasting philanthropic legacy. In addition to this work Danielle collaborates with her peers to author thought leadership content on a variety of Specialized Wealth Planning topics for use by BMO Private Wealth financial professionals and their clients.
