Walter has been employed with BMO Private Investment Counsel Inc. (BPIC) since 2003 as an Investment Counsellor. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree, Finance major and Marketing minor in 1985 from Concordia University, Montréal.

He completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) in 1980. Offered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), the CSC is recognized as the Canadian industry benchmark to deliver financial training.

Walter obtained the Derivatives Market Specialists (DMS) designation in 2002 from the CSI. Specifically designed to provide in-depth knowledge of pricing, hedging, risk management and advanced investment strategies, the DMS education stream covers a broad perspective of topics relevant to the diverse nature of the derivatives market. This includes options, futures, technical analysis and risk management in the financial, energy or agricultural markets. As recipient of a Certificate in Derivatives Market Strategies, Walter was recognized for his specialized knowledge in the advanced concepts of derivative investments and risk management.

He obtained the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) designation in 2002. Representing unrivalled professionalism and excellence, the FCSI is the pinnacle credential and highest honors in the Canadian financial services industry. It is reserved for an elite group of financial services professionals who have met the highest standards for industry experience, advanced education, ethics and solid endorsement from their peers and superiors. He then had to earn 7 years of financial services work experience within the 10 years preceding the award of the FCSI. He also had to obtain endorsement from a direct supervisor and from a practicing FCSI. He now subscribes to the FCSI Code of Ethics and sets the standard of conduct in his field.
